Liner Services

With own offices in all Southern African ports from Walvis Bay in Namibia to Pemba in northern Mozambique and including inland destinations such as Johannesburg, King and Sons provides the full spectrum of ships agency services. Clients include many of the world's prestigious liner, non-liner and container leasing Principals.

King & Sons was the first ships agency company in South Africa to receive ISO 9001:2000 accreditation for the full scope of agency services for both liner and non-liner functions.

A sophisticated computerised freight desk system, linking all branches, caters for Principal specific requirements and accommodates the electronic movement of data directly into the e-mail system via GM Context, Internet and X400.

Container logistics

The container logistics section undertakes the full management of Principals' containers in Southern Africa facilitated by King & Sons' customised Shipper Principal Agency Network, SPAN. This container management system controls and tracks boxes from ETA at any South African port until the container is reloaded for export. At any one time King & Sons' Principals have 9000 TEU on the ground in South Africa and at the press of a button the system can provide specific management data on any of these boxes.

Container Road Transport

Through one of its group transport companies, King and Sons is able to facilitate the container transport needs of Principals, importers and exporters by road at all main centers in South Africa. In all cases the arrangements will be made and contracted on behalf of the cargo interest or Principal.

Container Rail Transport

Similarly, the same group company also acts as a Rail Logistic Operator who has a contract with Spoornet, which is the government designated rail service provider. King & Sons would act on behalf of the Principal to enter into an agreement with the Rail Logistic Operator to facilitate the railage of full and empty containers within and across South African borders.

Member – Association of Ships Agents & Brokers of Southern Africa (ASABOSA)

King & Sons has been one of the founding members of (ASABOSA) and remains actively involved in the affairs of the association throughout all ports. This august body represents the industry in all key deliberations with the port authorities and related stakeholders. Senior King & Sons managers serve at local branch level as well as on the Council in progressing the objectives of (ASABOSA).

Bulkhaul – Tank Container Leasing

Bulkhaul is a United Kingdom based company and is reputed to be one of the largest Tank Container Leasing companies in the world with stocks in excess of ten thousand units. Through its agency relationship with King & Sons, Bulkhaul is able to supply its equipment to shippers at any location in South Africa and also to certain places to the north of our borders.
